The Chinon Parchment
In September 2001, a document known as the "Chinon Parchment" dated 17-20 August 1308 was discovered in the Vatican Secret Archives by Barbara Frale, aparantly after have been filed in the wrong place in 1628. it is a record of the trial of the Templars and shows that Clement absolved the Templars of all heresies in 1308 before formally disbanding the Order in 1312. Another Chinon Parchment dated 20 August 1308 addressed to Philip IV of France, also mentioned that all Templars that had confessed to heresy were "restored to the Sacraments and to the Unity of the Church". This other Chinon Parchment is well known to historians having been published by Etienne Baluze in 1693, and by Pierre Dupuy in 1751.
From 2009 on, the current position of the Roman Catholic Church is that the medieval persecution of the Knights Templar was unjust, that nothing was inherently wrong with the Order or its Rule. It also states that Pope Clement was pressed into his actions by the magnitude of the public scandal and by the dominating influence of King Phillip IV, who was Clement's relative.
Since the Roman Catholic Church has shown repentance, and as we believe any decent Christian should, our Order forgives the Roman Catholic Churches actions which resulted in the need for our ancestors to go into hiding and remain secret. We do not however revert to Papal authority or Catholicism. We remain an independent Protestant Order. We do call for Christian unity which although has remained elusive through history, we will do our part.

Our Cross
This is the cross specific to the Order of the Holy knights of Jesus Christ. It is a form of the Passion Cross or may also be known as the Cross of Suffering, Carpenter's, Pointed, Aiguisé, Urdée or Urdy cross. Our Cross has four points. The upper three short members of the Passion Cross represent the three nails, and the lower pointed stem represents the spear that pierced Jesus' side.
The glowing, ardent love definition of passion is not as used in the original meaning. The word comes from the Latin passio, which means suffering or enduring. The use has extended to the sufferings of martyrs, and from there to strong emotion. Finally the use has extended to today's popular use, describing a burning desire.
The Passion Cross is named from the original meaning and refers to Christ's suffering on the cross. It is not just the obvious physical pain, from the pain mocking crowd, or for being denied as our savior. The real and immeasurable suffering was paying for our sins.
It is our Burning Desire to serve our Lord, and protect those we love. Our suffering is that we do not stand by while others are attacked, instead we protect them. As protectors our suffering comes from the need to dispense our protection. No Knight who is true of heart, harms another without feeling sorrow. It is our true desire, hope and joy, that with the return of our Lord, once judgement is passed our services as protectors will no longer be needed as Peace and Love Reigns.
Any veteran knows that nobody hates war more than the soldier who must wage it.
